There are some fabulous restaurants around Lucas Texas but there’s something special about heading down to your favorite breakfast spot in the morning and not having to go too far from home. I am such an advocate for neighborhood diners, cafés, and restaurants where it’s not a big outing, but it someplace that you want to frequent at least once or twice a month if not once a week. Because I am a resident of Seis Lagos, I like to focus my attention on the homes and residential communities around Lucas and because of that, here are my favorite restaurants close to my neighborhood.
Country Club Café
Located at 2260 Country Club Rd., Suite 105, this restaurant is actually located in Wilie, but it’s only four minutes from my home. This is country dining at its finest. You have the diner look, the mugs of coffee, the kids hot chocolate piled high with whipped cream, and amazing breakfast. You have to check out the cinnamon swirl pancakes, simple home fries, which are my favorite, and chicken fried steak, cream gravy, and runny eggs with a homemade buttermilk biscuit and whipped butter. It does not get any better than this. But they also do lunch. Try the Texas cheesesteak sandwich on a croissant with homemade potato chips and a dill pickle spear.
For some of the best Caribbean and Latin American food around, El Flamboyan is literally right around the corner. Less than 5 miles away from this community is some of the best Puerto Rican food you’ve ever had. For authentic beef empanadas with chewy and crisp dough wrapped around flavorful meat, fried yucca chips, sweet plantations, and some killer mofongo, this ranks right up there just as if you were in an authentic abuela’s kitchen. There simple but super tasty menu is perfect for takeout, dine in, or to get UberEats to deliver.
Johnny’s Mexican Restaurant
Also less than five minutes from Seis Lagos, this Tex-Mex joint is more than just taquitos and enchiladas. They have the most unique combinations such as their melt in your mouth brisket tacos, avocado enchiladas, and chimichangas with Queso Blanco. Try their stuffed poblano peppers with charred chicken, corn and pico de gallo, or a fresh taco salad, Chihuahua nachos, or fresh guacamole. Don’t be thrown off by the tavern ambiance, it only adds to the authenticity of this fabulous Mexican place. And if you save room, their churros and sopapillas with fried ice cream is the bomb.
Well, there you go, three phenomenal restaurants all within five minutes of Seis Lagos. I must admit, I frequent these places probably a little bit too much, but they are on the top list and I’m not the only one, these three rank as some of the top restaurants in the Lucas and Wiley area. Do you have a favorite restaurant close by? Feel free to leave a comment and I’m excited to give it a shot!
